As we know, penguins hunt for food in the sea. When they return to the earth, they need to come out through an ice hole or over ice ledge. In order to land successfully, penguins have to dive three meters more first, and then make use of the buoyancy of the sea water to jump up suddenly out of the hole. In the group of penguins, the leader penguin has to take responsibility. It not only judges where the hole is exactly, but also needs the courage to guide others.
One of the natural enemies of the penguin is the seal. Clever seals will wait around the hole where penguins come out after they have found it, and seize the chance to catch them. The leader penguin comes out of the water like a bullet, flies over the head of the seal and escapes quickly. At this time it will not makes a noise. Then other penguins come out, following closely. Some fly over the seal’s head, and some slip away by the seal. The seal will open its mouth and prey the penguins under its eyes. Those who are not so lucky will become its feast.
Normally, the leader penguin should issue an alarm when it sees the seal and warn the others change the path. Why does not it do this? It is because if it issues the warning, others will be in a panic. They fear to come out and get trapped in the dangerous sea. Therefore they may face more hazards and loss. If so, the dead will not be only one. So the leader penguin’s keeping silence is a wise choice, and its kind silence plays an important role.
It is essential for man to make provision for possible problems. But the over estimation and stressing too much of the difficulty can impair the courage of going forward. We will become overcautious and indecisive, or even miss the chance of success. Confronted with obstacles, sometimes we’d better choose silence and just go forward without any scruple.

Just as the old famous Chinese saying goes: silence is gold. When emergency happens, we need to calm down to think out the solutions. Sometimes it is not necessary to speak too much. The best speaker among birds is the parrot, but we all know that it cannot fly high. The more you speak, the more mistakes you will make. The popular parlance among us students when in quarrel is that explanations are pretences. We do not only need to communicate with others by voice, also by heart. I always believe that it is better to have a beautiful mind than a persuasive mouth.
